Zangerle discusses workplace safety
AONL CEO Claire Zangerle, DNP, RN, workplace safety with American Hospital Association Board Chair Tina Freese Decker, MHA, as part of an AHA Leadership Dialogue . Zangerle, who also serves as AHA senior vice president and CNE, highlighted best practices and AONL鈥檚 and AHA鈥檚 trainings, tools and resources to prevent workplace violence. She explained how her previous employer, Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh, hired a certified police force to walk the nursing units to deter and de-escalate violence. In addition, Zangerle and Freese urged leaders to get involved in the AHA鈥檚 to advocate for passage of the Save Healthcare Workers Act (), which would make it a federal crime to assault health care workers.
