Study offers front-line nurse perceptions of professional governance
University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky a professional nursing governance index to measure the perceptions of RNs and licensed practical nurses working in inpatient and outpatient settings, with 567 out of 1,188 nurses responding to a survey. Nurses who were more satisfied with their professional practice had higher shared governance scores. Nurses with more education were more aware of professional governance. The study revealed that nursing leadership and staff should communicate better about changes made resulting from professional governance meetings.
