House committee marks up appropriations bill

The House Appropriations Committee  its fiscal year 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education bill. The  provides $258.6 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development program, falling short of the minimum amount of $303.47 million the Nursing Community Coalition requests to align with the Senate bill. The Senate bill contains $2 million less than FY 2024 levels. The House bill provides $197.69 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research ─ an amount identical to the Senate bill and level with FY 2024 funding. Meanwhile, the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee  the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2025 (), which would ensure Nursing Workforce Development Programs secure the necessary federal authorization to obtain future funding.
