Daily management system improves outcomes
Beth Finley, DNP, RN, CNE at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center, Rio Rancho, N.M., implemented a daily management system to improve quality as part of her AONL Nurse Director Fellowship capstone project. Writing in the Voice of Nursing Leadership September issue, Finley and her co-author describe how the system fostered accountability, streamlined problem-solving and ensured continuous quality improvement across the organization. Hospital leaders, the process excellence team and nursing leaders collaborated on implementation, including giving nursing leaders individualized training and inviting input from front-line staff. Units identified specific areas for improvement and set goals, such as reducing inpatient falls. Average unit falls declined in the year following implementation.
