After a white man engaged in a mass shooting in three Atlanta spas last week, killing six Asian women and two others, the National Commission to Address Racism in Nursing, with a statement condemning the murders and offering condolences to the victims’ loved ones.  “Xenophobia, discrimination, racism, violence, sexism, and the stigma against Asian, Asian American and the Pacific Islander communities must stop,” the commission asserted.  As a founding member of the commission, AONL supports this position. “AONL deplores such acts of violence that deeply violate the aim of nursing and nurse leaders--to heal and give comfort,” said Robyn Begley, AONL CEO and American Hospital Association senior vice president of workforce and CNO.  “AONL strongly supports the commission’s condemnation of racism, violence, discrimination and injustice,” said Mary Ann Fuchs, AONL president and system chief nurse executive at Duke Health, Durham, N.C. (Commission , 3/23/21)
