CDC data shows COVID-19 rates rising
COVID-19 cases likely are in 25 states, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. The rise in cases 鈹 part of this year鈥檚 summer wave of the virus 鈹 is occurring primarily in Southeast, Southern and West Coast states. However, based on wastewater samples, COVID-19 rates still are considered 鈥渓ow,鈥 although that number is up from 鈥渧ery low鈥 from the prior week. A CDC analysis the virus has two surges nationwide, typically peaking in July through September and then December through February. Separately, the Food and Drug Administration Moderna鈥檚 Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine for older adults and high-risk children under age 12. The vaccine will be for the 2025-2026 respiratory virus season.
