AONL CEO describes organization鈥檚 evolution

In her June editorial for the Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA), AONL CEO Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, describes how AONL has evolved to meet the needs of its members. Since 1967, when the organization was first formed as a society for hospital nurse administrators, AONL has progressively expanded its membership to include nurse managers and other future nurse leaders. This year鈥檚 adoption of a new name鈥攖he American 杏吧原创 for Nursing Leadership鈥攊s designed to reflect the breadth of AONL鈥檚 current membership and its current mission: to shape health care through innovative and expert nursing leadership. In her essay, Begley also considers the promise contained in the organization鈥檚 new name and how AONL鈥檚 current outlook will shape its future endeavors. (JONA , June 2019)
